you have an alpine right?

mine has 2 settings for the sub, one has the sub louder at lower levels, so you can actually hear it, and the other keeps it at the same level as the other speakers

yep. its got 2 settings. 1) on at one setting for full volume range or the 2nd which i have it on normally increases level depending on volume.

it drops of on either setting. no biggy though its very loud as is at 75%.

Installed the cool running thermostat,
renewed half the plastic vac. lines with 4mm turbosmart silicon hose,
bolted the engine to my car,
did a test if a large air intake indeed makes a difference over the standard intake (yes, it does),
cleaned the k&n filter,
was suspicous that the earth mod. wasn't done properly, checked it and all ok,
reset all the learned values with the Opcom,
polished my headlights,
rewired the solinoid of my ebc,
and lost about half the skin on my hands by doing all of this.

Drove it to Annerley. Encountered an idiot in a white Toyota sedan. What is it with me and idiots - they always seem to be driving a toyota camry...
Anyway, this one decided, while I was trying to merge into the lane to my right (as this one closed) to overtake me. Right is no go - I'm indicating and merging, and I'm halfway into the lane already. Left is no go - that lane is already well into a half width triangle. So I get the finger waved at me. I'm also looking for a turning on the left, so I brake a bit. That's when I see him coming at me in the mirror and hear the tyres lock up. Instant reflex was to floor the accelerator - and completely miss the driveway I was aiming for. Then comes the thump from behind. This is ipswich road - not many places to pull over. So I dive down the next sidestreet, and spot a place about 100 yards up that there is a place which isn't a side turning and doesn't have wall to wall parked cars. Stop, get out, and see toyota-driver (who had followed me) doing a U turn between a line of parked cars either side of the road to head back in the other direction. He then nips off into traffic and out of sight.

Didn't get the plate unfortunately.

Then went to look at the mess the back of my car was in. Luckily no obvious damage to my rear - I think the brunt of the thump was taken by the towball. The front of the camry may be a little less lucky.

(Oh, I doubled around, did get into my side turning next time - no camrys about - and parked in the one spot left in the car park. Returned later to find why that spot was free - my car was now covered in bird shit.)

Wondering if/how to report it, given that there's no real damage to my car, and I didn't get his plate (so all that I can say is it was an old white toyota sedan, likely a camry, which doesn't really narrow it down much).

mmm yeah tough problem. struggled with this when wiring my subs. found a sneaky little way in that runs through a cavity behind the side skirts. but that takes you straight down to the rear of the car. i tried going through a gromet behind the center consol but the wire was to thick. depends how thin your wiring is i guess.

Just replaced my 3 interior lights with red leds.... Just so its that little harder to find things in the dark lol.

I replaced my front reading light with a blue 1 do u find that it dims whilst driving and doesnt turn off? I ended up pitting it in my glove box as it stays on when out of the car too

Yes my front interior and two rear reading lights do stay on very dim. This is because leds only need a tiny little bit of power to work (unlike the original globes). It doesn't bother me tho, its not that bright to notice while driving. And wont drain your battery.

:sad: When this happens... the pressure in the coolant bottle forces the water back into the cylinders when the motor is switched off. Then when you go to start it it has compression lock Because water wont compress .at the best the motor wont turn at the worst it turns and snaps a rod and frigs the whole engine.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz8/warwick_bucket/DSCF1654.jpg

You can see that having water in the motor is no good and in a short time you will have corrosion i n the bores and as a result the rings wont seal you blow smoke loss of power pressure in the crank and blown motor. So you have to decide what to do now at this stage.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz8/warwick_bucket/DSCF1655.jpg
I talked it over with my foreman and we decided to go with a carefull hone and clean up. You have to be carefull not to go deep or you will need oversize rings etc etc, you can see that they came up pretty well. Most wiped off with a rag however it needed a slight hone. I hate doing it with the pistons in because you have to clean up all the honed material ,but if you are carefull and after its going run it like you stole it allowing it to blow any crap you missed out the valves.

http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz8/warwick_bucket/DSCF1656.jpg

You have to make sure you dont damage the face of the block but all the old gasket material has to be removed, and I mean all or your head gasket wont last. Do it once and do it right.
I am happy with the work so far,:chuck:the pistons did not have any markes on the face so I am hopeing the engine machiner can clean and restore the head . I will get the valves re-seated and new guides and mill the head flat Costs a bit more but let the pros do it and it should be better than new.
And the guy who put the tappet cover on used a tube of silicon to stop leaks. It did not work :rolleyes5: not only that there could be bits of sealer blocking oilways in the motor. You have to use new rubbers or at the very least a small amount of sensor safe blue silicon run in the grove before putting in the gasket and letting that semi dry so as to get a better squeeze on the rubber. And if it doesn't work buy a new one dont keep adding silicon:crazy:
Thats it for me untill I get the head back and parts to do the job. I will keep you all posted on the joys of head gaskets. Oh yeah the 4 is heaps easier than the 6 to work on:cornut:

I have two red leds in the heater controls (as you can see the three air con buttons and the little lines on the knobs are red). The blue around the heater knobs is plasma just like my dials.

Edit: The MFD has the same leds the heater does. 2 of them.

No not at all. Power from the cigarette lighter light and earthed it behind the cluster.
