took front guard, side skirt and rear bar off, re-attached gear linkage, fitted newer engine bay fuse box, pondered removing turbo bits and using the standard bodywork for a much less chunky look....

also ordered a few bits n pieces

IMO take off the spoiler, leave the turbo skirts tho.

measured it. (same height at front and side skirts)

http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww85/skyguy27/DSCN6980.jpg

floor pan is approx 20mm lower.

Also washed engine bay, and under the car.
more investigation done on my mysterious oil leak. now seems to be the seal where the gear linkage on the gearbox is.

hey guys i was driving today in the rain and then the wiper blade arm just started hitting the other one and when i got home
i looked at it and it doesn't sit right its sitting too high up and when i put them on they just hit each other i think it might be the wiper blade holder

any ideas on where and how much it will cost to fix

thanks

boorny88
4th May 2010, 04:57 PM

lol dont take it to holden, just try a local garage they'll be able to loosen the nut and lever the wiper arm off, holden will charge you through the roof and as found out by alot of people here, have no more experience with euros than any small workshop!!

drove my car in the wet today for the first time on the 16s, pretty much zero traction, but then again the tyres are 9 years old.......... eeek!!

Apart from doing an oil/filter change, I replaced a perished breather hose (the 6mm ID crankcase to TB one) via a joiner until the correct hose arrives, blanked & replaced the EGR valve.

The V6 is now running great, but has this rasp to it that is what I imagine a pod filter to sound like, although I've never actually heard one. It sounds like it's coming from the TB but it's not been removed.

Any ideas peeps?????

Our cat used to stand on it's back legs and tip our birdcage over, so I rigged up a 9 volt battery shocker for a couple of bucks and put a large sheet of aluminum foil on the floor at the base of the cage. I connected one wire of the shocker to the cage and the other wire to the foil. The cat could walk on the foil with no problem, but when it stood up to knock over the cage, it completed the circuit and got a hellava shock. It's harmless to the cat. BTW, the cat never entered that room again- ever!

I'm sure you could adapt this idea to 2 sheets of foil on a beach towel on the car. Just watch out for the claw marks when the cat jumps straight up.

Good luck.

spent some time on the weekend doing something i haven't done for at least 5 years. cleaned every panel by hand, applied meguiars paint cleaner, then applied meguairs wet look wax and armour all'd the tyres and all the plastic moulding. also touched up any stone chips. it looks amazing again instead of the filthy ho bag that my car has become. i might take a pic of it sometime just to show you :p

Took the semi's off after the trip home from Winton. Checked the discs, pads, plugs, suspension, oil and brake fluid..Cleaned the dead bugs off the windscreen.

Now, just need to scrape them down to get the extra rubber "marbles" off them and then clean off the subframe where the gearbox sprayed oil all over the underside of the car...

KNEW I should have fitted that breather before I went to Winton!!!!! :D

took apart my key today. it appears that the buttons are stuffed. which is awesome, as that's my only key.

i think that this is a bit weird:

can't unlock doors with remote
put key in lock, turn key to open door
alarm goes off
door opens anyway, get into car, put key in ignition
car starts
alarm is still going off
after a little bit alarm goes off
then all indicators get stuck on...

could have sworn my car had an immobilizer??!?

I average about 7.5L on the highway... little bit flat stick around town :P ... about 8.2L in the city. Roughly about 550 city,... 600-650 hwy. Also varies alot with depending on how much start/stop i do. But you would be pretty hard pressed to find a car with this kind of mileage... plus horsepower.. plus cruise control.. plus verstile enough to fit what ever you want in it... plus reliable enough to not let you down :)

What weighs the most, the battery or the box? :p

The battery...The box weighs just under 2kgs... :)

is it roadworthy to have lead acid battery in a box in the boot?
i know its not legal to have one sitting free in the boot.
and i also know it is legal to have a dry cell sitting free in the boot.

if a box is legat, im seriously considering moving mine bootwards...

You can have a lead acid battery in the boot as long as it is sealed from the cabin and vented to the atmosphere so that hydrogen doesn't build up inside the car.

Mine is a Gel Cell Odyseey battery...It is legal to have in the boot, I'm boxing it anyway for safety. It will either sit in the spare wheel well or on the passenger side of the boot...

Washed the car, went to Autobarn to see if they had the Silicone hoses I wanted but it seems that my local one only stocks the usual cleaning products and misc tools etc that you get everywhere else.

this may not be very helpful for you...

up here, Queensland Diesel Spares is apparently very reasonable price wise when it comes to silicon hoses, perhaps try a similar place down there?

Cheers Mate,

I think I will just resort to my original plan of ordering them from the UK. Yes the postage time and cost is high, but the end result is the same, and it ends up being cheaper overall.
Now to decide... blue or black? I think I will go blue, add some colour in the engine bay :)
