Picked up a full set of brakes today for the Vectra ready to put in next week. The old rotors are just too sad to keep running so it's time to swap them over.

Have had a few weeks now to play around with an "Irmscher I-Tech" tuning box for an Astra a16let engine. http://www.irmscher.de/int_presse/in...n.php?dsn=1067
These were sold very briefly by Irmscher and were sold out in pre-order stage. They never made any more. I always wondered what these things do and if they actually work on a petrol car. They are similar to the diesel tuning boxes which I know work (sort of). From what I understood, cant confirm this though, is that they had been developed together with eds. They are somewhat hard to get hold of but I found one very cheap from a friend through a friend that has a neighbor who's colleague that works in Germany ....... Couldn't let it sit there for the money so had to buy and try it. The Irmscher I-tech hooks up to the map sensor. Claimed power increases are from standard 132kw/180bhp / 230Nm to 158kw/215bhp / 280 nm which is equal to a stage 1 remap. The claimed 280 nm of torque is actually the short overboost function on a standard car which would be constantly available then with an I-tech. After installing it, I couldn't feel any difference at all. Inside the aluminium box, there are 3 dials which I started to play around with. I did contact Irmscher for some assistance, cause I had no idea what those dials were for, but they are as useful as a pair of tits on a snake and I didn't get any further with them. After trying a lot of different setting, I now found a setting in which I can clearly feel a difference !!! I'll leave it on this setting for the moment. An added bonus it seems is that the car uses a bit less fuel too. I am sort of convinced now that these tuning boxes do somewhat work but nothing beats a proper remap. I might be offloading this thing to anyone that has an astra j with the A16let engine and wants to do some more exploring with the settings.
Well let me know how you go with it.Im gonna go to John next week when I have time.Wanna do before and after runs to see if their claims are true.
